I make stoneware at wheel or work with slabs.
I practice the traditional "Slipware" technique. That is, before firing, I decorate the clay with slips : liquid clays coloured with metal oxides and with oxides (copper, iron, cobalt and, sometimes, artificial colouring). I then apply a transparent glossy glaze - like a varnish.
My objects are fired twice in a gas kiln. The first firing at 980°C is for the decoration, the second at 1150°C for the glaze.
